QIS – Quarch Instrument Server is a simple Java application which handles communication with Quarch Power Modules. It has a terminal for quick prototyping and interaction with Quarch devices, and can be automated using python scripts with no additional drivers needed.
QIS provides a simple USB and TCP port for control (local or remote network control) and greatly simplifies handling of large quantities of streaming data.
QIS can be launched in headless mode to be run on a server with no GUI.
NOTE: QIS is also distributed with QPS (Quarch Power Studio) and QuarchPy (our python automation package). This version for standalone use is rarely needed! We recommend getting QuarchPy and Application Note 12 to see and example of how QIS can be automated using python scripts. QuarchPy and our application notes are open source, so feel free to use them as a starting point for your own scripts.
