Graduate Hardware Engineer

Quarch Technology is a world leader in test automation tools for the data storage industry and beyond. We work with the worlds biggest tech companies on cutting edge technologies for Data Centers, Telecoms, Self Driving Cars, AI and countless other applications.

Our recent products include: Power measurement for high end GPUs and AI accelerators, Power analysis for EV chargers and products to test the latest generation of Gen5 NVMe drives. This role is based in the Quarch head office in Aviemore, Scotland. Our home is in the stunning Cairngorms National Park and is where we design and manufacture our products in-house with a skilled team of engineers, technicians and operations staff.

We are looking for an ambitious Graduate Hardware Engineer to help develop our latest generation of hardware products. This will include all elements from specification through development, final testing and release. You would be working with a small, skilled team of both software and hardware engineers and would own development through the entire product life cycle.  You will constantly be looking at ways to improve our products and processes and improve our products and services as we grow. Our fast development timescales and dynamic environment offers developing engineers a fantastic opportunity to quickly gather experience and take on responsibility.

Quarch Technology is an IET Enterprise Partner, giving our employees access to resources and training to support them in development and professional registration. We were awarded with a Queens Award for Enterprise in 2021, and won International Business of the Year in the FSB Business Awards Scotland 2019.

Responsibilities

  • Product definition
  • Schematic and PCB Design
  • FPGA/CPLD design and verification in VHDL
  • Signal Integrity Analysis
  • Device validation
  • Manufacturing Test Development
  • Internal and customer-facing documentation
  • Analysis of RMAs and field failures

This job is a full-time, permanent position, based at the company office is in Aviemore, Scotland.

Daily travel to the company office is expected, though flex-time is offered and occasional remote working is possible.

Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required

You must have experience of:

  • Basic electronics theory
  • Schematic design
  • PCB layout
  • FPGA/CPLD design

It would be an advantage if you have experience in:

  • SPICE Simulation
  • High speed layout (> 10GHz)
  • 3D Field Simulation
